Happy February!

Blessings to all. Life in the DR is going good. We are readjusting to having a new tam, but its really been the Lord's grace through this transition period. We have started English classes again, but not with the amount of students we wished we had. Miguel and Kristen's baby is growing so quick. I made my own little song for her for when shes crying in my arms. She seems to like me though, she smiles at me a lot.
Recently, we had Kristen's mom and grandmother to visit and also we had Miguel's mom too. It was a fun time.

We have started to work in  Guatchupita on Wednesdays and every other Saturday of the month. The ministry there is going good. We have been working with a new couple that just moved in. One prayer request we have for that neighborhood is for a woman named Amancia. She is about 75 years old, and recently had the roof taken off the house she was living in by the owners. They came the day before and told her she needed to move out the next day. She is currently living with her son and his 5 kids. Please pray that the Lord will provide a living situation for her and that the time that she is living with her son can be full of peace.

As for me, you can pray that the Lord will help me rise up. I'm confused and hurt with some personal things in my walk with the Lord. I have taken a major blow to my faith, and don't really know where I stand or what lies ahead. Just pray that the Lord may have mercy and grace over my life.

I will be heading to Santiago next Thursday to meet up with the QUEST 9 team. I will be working with them for 5 days and then returning back to San Juan. Pray for safety in travels for me and them, they head out on the 14th of this month.

            God Bless.

1st Week of the New Semester

First Week Back

Blessings to all, its been good first week back. Feels good to be welcomed back into the community and share with friends. Its been kinda hard getting back into the program schedule, my body and mind are still in vacation mode and can't sleep early and consequently waking up later and my quiet times have been suffering. I really want to get back into them and spend time with God, its just been hard waking up early when I go to sleep almost everyday past midnight.

Well the enemy is back at it. I have some sad news from our team. Chelsea Wood and Leah House have decided to pull out from the program and will leave today and return back home on Sunday. I can understand to a point their reasons but think they aren't entirely significant enough to pull out. I think this is an attack from the enemy and sadly he has won this battle. I wish them the best and pray that the Lord will continue to use them wherever they are. For more information on their take visit their blogs. www.chelseawood.myadventures.org and www.leahhouse.myadventures.org

Please pray for our team as we figure out how to handle the rest of our time here after this blow to our team. Please pray for our leaders and for the Lord to be magnified regardless of how big or small our team is. Also, please pray that the Lord sends confirmation of direction for my future, Thanks and God Bless.

Going back 2 the DR

Hey guys!!! I want to apologize for not writing since Thanksgiving. Well to start off, Merry Christmas and Happy new year to every one!!! I am currently home in the states. I am going back to Santiago, DR the 2nd at 11:10 pm. I will be working with a missionary down there, Marsha Davidson, until the 15th and then heading back to finish off my FYM year in San Juan. I have had an amazing time back home wiht my family and friends. really enjoyed myself. But its time 2 head back. Please be praying for me and my team as this semester starts. This semester will be longer and harder as our leaders welcome to this world their beautiful baby girl Samantha Winn Shaul. Please keep us in constant prayer. In my time back I got to do many things. I went to NY to visit my dad that I haven't seen in 2 years and my sister that I haven't seen since freshmen year in high school, and my brother which I haven't seen in 3 years. I got to introduce them to my girlfriend and visit the big tree in rocker feller center. I got to preach at 3 different occasions.

I spent much time with my family who I miss very much. One thing I have seen in our culture that is repulsive is how much importance is put on material things. With my experiences in the DR I have quickly learned that affluence can be and usually a stumbling block and not needed. An Ipod touch or an I-phone isn't needed when there are starving people in this world, children that I have held that are unclothed and unattended. We need to start focusing on eternal life and not just being part of this world, but changing it!!! Lets stop building treasures on earth and start building treasures up in heaven where moth cannot destroy and thieves cannot steal. Instead lets invest our time and money on what can last forever. Spend our time on building other up for Christ instead of on the internet all the time or watching sports. Its something that the Lord has been teaching me. Lets use our money to help others and help send others to build the kingdom of Christ, instead on the new car of the year or a 52 in. HDTV. As followers of Christ the popular question is always appropriate, What Would Jesus Do? Would Jesus spend all his money on himself and try to keep up with the trends?

God Bless and be encouraged. The bible says " never tire of doing good".

Thanksgiving

       happy turkey day every one!!!!

here in the DR they dont celebrate thanksgiving, they have a similar thing on the night before Christmas called Noche Buena. We will be celebrating Thanksgiving tommorow. We got back from the mountains yesterday about noon. We had a great time there and had some real fun. We also encountered sdome tough spiritual warfare. It was pretty rediculous how obvious the enemy didnt want us there and was doing everything he could to stop us. From stomach problems to out of no where feeling sleepy to me accidently overdosing on tylenol to pink eye!!! it was crazy!! but we are back and will be having a Fun Family Feasting weekend!!! God Bless you all!!! Eat some extra turkey for me!!!

Quick Update

Hello far far away world!!!

I´m doing extremely good down here!! The holy spirit is just tearing this place up!!! its amazing, The Lord has been opening up doors everywhere just to proclaim His kingdom fearlessly!!! The Lord has opened up a door for me to disciple one of the guys I know down here, he is a former golden glove boxer!! We are going to be meeting an hour a week to really talk about stuff and study the Bible together. The Lord is also working in the heart of someone else, please pray for Him his name is Robert. I´ve been reading the book called ¨The Heavenly Man¨by brother Yun. If you haven´t read it I would suggest to pick it up ASAP!! The book really has inspired me to memorize scripture, not verses but entire books of the bible. Please pray that the Lord gives me the memory and passon to do it.

My english class is going great! I´ve been trying to find tactics to teach them english and the gospel at the same time, and its been working!!! I get super excited when we are talking about english principles and then out of no where my class starts talking about world religion!! Praise be to the Lord!!

We went to the haitian market called Elias piña on friday. I love negotiating everything down to a reasonable price, they try to charge us more since we are american. But it was a nice day with the gang.

We are going on a 5 day mission trip again to the mountains startin gthis friday until next wednesday. We will be going past where we went last time, its called Las cucarichas. PLease be praying that the Lord be opening up hearts now and will be guiding us while we are there.  We wil be celebrating Thanksgiving on the friday instead of the thurday, schedule probs. The Dominican Republic doesn´t celebrate it at the sam etime as us, they celebrate it Dec 24.

I just want to thank the Lord for my roommate Ronnie, he really has been a blessing in my life. Its cool to see what living with a person can do to you. He is a rocker guy, like complete screamo and hardcore rock. Yesterday as we were cleaning I was listening to my rap ( Trip Lee Fanatic) and out of no where he starts walking with a limp with the mop and starts rapping the song!!! its been cool how we have rubbed off on eachother in such a short time!!!

Thanks guys!! I miss you all!!! Saludos a todos!! God Bless!

Tropical Storm Noel

This was my electronic journal through the Storm, a new post will be added soon and pictures!!

Its currently 9:14 p.m on Monday October 29, 2007. Its currently raining here in San juan, we are in tropical storm Noel that caught us by surprise. now, tropical storms and hurricanes aren't new to me, I lived in miami for 8 years and have lots of destructive systems. but for some reason this Tropical storm hits harder on my heart than others in the past. i think its because i know the people that are being displaced by the storm. i know the   people that are being driven to a gymnasium to stay the night. i know the children that are wondering when they are going home again. i know the desperate fathers that can't sleep because they are worried sick about their house and what little valuable possessions it has or because they need to protect what they packed and took with them to the gym. I thank the lord that we are able to help out at least one family in need and provide them shelter, food, and company in their struggles.

It is now 12:35 p.m on Tuesday october 30, 2007. we have all split up to do accomplish different tasks to help out the people at the gymnasium. soon we will all be heading to the stadium to go console the people from Guatchupita, a really poor barrio. We will be giving out vitamins for kids and crackers. we also will be playing cards and dominoes with the adults to alleviate  the stress from the storm, also we will be rounding up all the bored little children and play with them. We are trying to do what we can for these people, they are the poorest in the town. they are unemployed most of the time and uneducated. it has stopped raining for about half an hour now, but the weather reports say that it will continue to raining through out the day until the night. the short intercession of rain might give people false hope to return home and then be caught in the storm again.

Tropical Storm

We have recieved a message from the Dominican Republic team.  They said:

The Dominican Republic had a tropical storm go through and it knocked out all the electricity.  Everyone is okay. There are no injuries to anyone in the DR.  They are doing some evacuations in some areas but the team is not in danger of any evacuation.  They will not be able to blog for over a week but they are safe.
